# Adjust position margin

POST https://www.okx.com/api/v5/account/position/margin-balance
Content-Type: application/json

Increase or decrease the margin of an isolated position. Adjusting the margin changes the leverage and liquidation price of the position.

## Authentication

- `OK-ACCESS-KEY` header (required) — Your API key.
- `OK-ACCESS-SIGN` header (required) — Base64-encoded HMAC-SHA256 signature of the prehash string.
- `OK-ACCESS-TIMESTAMP` header (required) — ISO 8601 UTC timestamp, e.g. 2020-12-08T09:08:57.715Z.
- `OK-ACCESS-PASSPHRASE` header (required) — The passphrase you set when creating the API key.

## Request

### Body (application/json)

This endpoint expects an object.

- `instId` (string, required) — Instrument ID.
- `posSide` (enum, required) — Position side, default net.
  - Allowed values: `net`, `long`, `short`
- `type` (enum, required) — add to increase margin, reduce to decrease margin.
  - Allowed values: `add`, `reduce`
- `amt` (string, required) — Amount to be increased or decreased.
- `ccy` (string, optional) — Currency, only applicable to isolated MARGIN.
- `auto` (boolean, optional) — Automatic loan transfer. Only applicable to MARGIN positions.
- `loanTrans` (boolean, optional) — Whether to make a loan transfer. Only applicable to cross MARGIN of Multi-currency/Portfolio margin.

- `code` (string, optional) — Result code. `0` means success; any other value is an error code.
- `msg` (string, optional) — Error message. Empty on success.
